Resource image of the revolver Pip acquires in chapter 3

couple different views with the open and closed aswell

I\'d would have liked to say that it\'s based off of a 357 python but the gun needs to looks like a childs toy compared to Lil\' Macintosh so it\'s actually based off of a Smith and wesson 357 magnum. Not bashing the magnum, epic gun (probably my favourite handgun) but the python would hold up too well to Lil' macintosh in terms of looks.

I would actually say, seeing as how .357 has a pretty high stopping power, that the gun in that she picks up is: 38 S&W, .32 S&W, .22Mag, or something similar to those as she had to shoot quite a bit to put them down, also she compares the sound of Lil'Mac to it and there is not all that big a difference, sound wise, between .357 and .44Mag.
And while I know you are open to artistic licence and all, I still don't like how this gun is not physically possible, it just wouldn't work.

Well, I'd have to argue that, Most of Little pip's shots are because she can't shoot. In issue three she fires the revolver 12 times at ponies. Only 7 of them were hits. Four of those were into a raiders ass. Every other kill was one hit. and all the kills were an instant drop. Not a single twitch, which is actually really rare for the lack of hits. And even harder with ass shots meaning that there was significant energy expulsion in the cavities. something .38s and .32s would have trouble doing. Also there doesn't need to be much difference in sound between the two guns. Little Macintosh is technically just supposed to be a scoped, whatever the hell revolver she got from the raiders. Though I'm taking liberties on that. Also while the trigger sticking out seems kind of weird (my theory is that it sticks under the tongue a bit and gets pushed.) Those "in the bit" triggers would be impossible to pull/push It's all I got that makes sense (to me anyways), and for the way the bit is, again only way I see it working. If it was in the centre like the scattergun sawed off had in issue 2 you wouldn't be able to aim. With how I have it set up the gun is now in front of your right eye allowing you to aim properly. Though I do need to pull the bit back on the side views a bit (and maybe lengthen it out aswell). Of course if you have any ideas on how to improve the design, I'm all ears.

.357 would easily go right through a pony, so if you shot him/her in the ass from behind then it would travel into the abdomen and cause serious internal damage.
A .32 S&W or .38 S&W would not be able to go that far and would get stuck in the ass... xD
I also believe, seeing as how she does comment on how loud Lil'Mac is and not on how loud the other one was, that it would be a sub-sonic round, like .32 or .38, rather then .357 which is super-sonic.

My main problem with the gun is that there is no space for a Main Hammer Spring, the spring that tensions the hammer. With the space you have there you could put one in but there is no way it would be strong enough to set off the bullets primer.
I also have a problem with the fact that you need to pull back the hammer with that pull of the trigger (as this is a double action revolver as it is never stated that she locks the hammer back) and that the little tab would have 10KG (25+lbs) of force on it that would need to be pulled back, with a tongue, and I don't see how that would work.

There are some ways this could be fixed, with a very new design, it wouldn't take away from the aesthetics of the revolver ,but it would be very radical and you might just want to ignore this and put it down to "It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit" because that is a lot easier. :P

".357 would easily go right through a pony, so if you shot him/her in the ass from behind then it would travel into the abdomen and cause serious internal damage." Kind of proves my point of the raider's gun is more powerful then you think. Cause that ass shot wouldn't kill the raider with a .32 or .38, or at least it would be a very slow death. Also while I agree that there may be a tight fit for a massive Hammer spring. There is enough room. most hammer springs go what? Halfway down the grip? Usually its to the height of the bottom of the trigger guard which is about where the bit actually extends out wards. That and I've seen some pretty shot hammer springs on .44s with insanely light trigger pulls. But hey be my guest. Redesign the revolver. I'm curious as to how you'd make it work.

You obviously went AFK so I did it anyway: [link]

Also, .357 doesn't fit in with the FO3 setting that was pretty prominent in the beginning of the story.

The only way I could really see it working well would be a gas operated revolver. Having a piston above the barrel that rotates the cylinder and cocks the hammer. It wouldn't be hard to add on to the design you have, but it would be different.
You could also fix the spring problem by making it a sliding bolt instead of a hammer. The Mateba 8 is a bit like that: [link]
I'll draw you up a design if you want to have a look.

I know Little Macintosh Is based off of the S&W Model 44, I think the revolver in that chapter is just a generic .357 Nice work though.

actually it doesn't say what type of gun (aside from revolver), though people assume what you said that. I always thought the same way, that it was a 357 she picks up in chapter three and that little machintosh is a SW .44, BUT upon further study, turns out that little macintosh is actually a really gilded up, what ever the hell kind of revolver little pip picks up in chapter three. But.... I decided to go with what was the generic train of thought, .357 for chapter 3 and .44 for the Lil macintosh. course I went with a python/colt 44 hybrid, instead of a SW .44 for Lil Macintosh

well I assumed since it's based of off Fallout 3, that it would be a Scoped pony version of the S&W Model 44. which is the .44 magnum in Fallout.
